How to Buy a Whole Lamb

Buying a whole lamb from Grimshaw Farms is a great way to feed your family with high quality meat at an amazing price per pound. We’ve worked to make the process very simple and easy to understand. When you're ready to order, use our “Lamb Order form” to provide your contact information and select your cuts.  Take a look at the graphic below to understand each cut of meat. Below the infographic you'll find a description of approximately what you will get.

Our sheep are selected at 120-125 pounds live-weight. On average a 120-125 lb lamb is going to yield 50-55 lbs of meat for your freezer. The choice of cuts ultimately depends on the selection you choose before processing but generally these include:   

• 16  shoulder chops (alternatively cut as whole or half shoulder roasts) 
• 16  small lamb chops  (2 chops per pack) 
• 16  small loin chops (4 chops per pack) 
• 2   Foreshanks 
• 2   Hindshanks 
• 2   packages of ribs (alternatively cut as 16 rib chops)
• 2   Bone-in leg roasts at 5 to 6 lbs each (these are commonly cut in half or cut into leg steaks) 
• 2-4  packages of meaty neck slices for stock or stew
• 10-12 lbs of Ground lamb (1 lb packs)  

All processing is performed under USDA inspection and each cut will be individually vacuum packed & frozen prior to delivery.
